A Visit From Grandpa Steimle

Friday morning Grandpa Steimle and his lovely new wife Jannett came for a visit. When I announced to the kids that Grandpa Steimle was coming to town they were both jumping for Joy!! They sat on the couch next to the front window and waited for almost an hour for them to finally arrive. It was such a nice surprise, the kids really loved Jannett and were calling her Grandma right away. We went to lunch and then to the kids favorite park. They spent the night in a Hotel and then came back Saturday morning to visit some more before they had to leave. The kids were so excited when they showed up with presents! They had bought an outfit for each of the kids and a few toys as well. I was so happy they came, I felt like I didn't really get a chance to get to know Jannett very much at the wedding so it was a good opportunity to develop a relationship with her. I wish they could have stayed longer, Kenidi was so upset when they had to leave. She was crying for almost 30 minutes after they left :(

Beauty and the Beast

Is my favorite Fairy Tale of all time!! I can remember as a child reading the book and dreaming of becoming like Bell. I read the book so much that I had it memorized and would recite it to anyone who would listen. So you can only imagine how excited I was to find out that Red Mountain High School was putting on the play. Kenidi and I went Friday night. She loved the play and laughed hysterically- especially when Gaston's side kick would come on. She was a little bit afraid of the Beast, but I explained to her that it all turns out good in the end. It started at 7pm and ended at 10pm, I didn't get Kenidi to bed until almost eleven but it was totally worth it. I wish we could go again, I couldn't believe how talented those High School Students were. It made me wish that I would would have taken a Drama class when I was in High School. Some of the pictures turned out a little fuzzy, I guess a fuzzy picture is better than no picture :-)

Chillen with the boys

Yesterday I was getting the kids ready for bed, when all of a sudden Kaden disappeared. I was calling for him, but there was no response. I went downstairs and found Kaden here on the couch with Grandpa and Uncle Shem watching the discovery channel.

Easter 2010

We had such a wonderful Easter this year! I hid 53 eggs, it was a lot of fun except for all the bending over. The kids were waiting with much anticipation for this day to come, they were so excited when they woke up that morning. The two of them ran down the stairs to peek at their Easter baskets I love the picture of them with their messy bed hair :-) Shem and Andrea came over for the egg hunt, and spent most of the day with us. The only thing that could have made our Easter better would have been to have Daddy with us of course :( After our Easter egg hunt the the kids had about 10 minutes of digging into their baskets, they were really wound up after that and ran around the yard chasing each other. They ended up deciding to dump all the fake Easter grass out of their baskets, Kenidi shoved some down Kaden's shirt. They were pretty hyper for the rest of the day, I don't know if it was from the sugar overload or if it was just the excitement in the air.

I am so proud of this picture I was at just the right place at just the right time!

Kenidi is quite the little crafter, she had been asking me to make a fun easter craft with her. We made this cute little paper plate bunny candy holder about a week before easter, it was a lot of fun and super easy to make.

Pay it forward

Yesterday I went to the Post office to mail out a package to my bunny, I was there waiting in line and the most kind person was standing next to me. I had just picked a box to put all of the stuff in and was struggling to get it together, I didn't have any packing tape so the women handed me a roll that she had brought with her. I thanked her for sharing it and proceeded to tape the bottom of the box, she held the box together for me while I taped it. Then she pulled a pair of nail clippers from her purse to clip the end. Kenidi was with me and had to go potty really bad, the women noticed Kenidi doing the potty dance and asked if she could have a mint to help keep her mind off of it. Kenidi was very happy about that and very politely thanked her for sharing. We were waiting in line for about ten minutes, during that time she and I got to know each other. She asked me where my package was being sent & I told her it was going to Fort Jackson, she asked me when my baby was due. She was such a sweet person, well we got to the very end of the line and it was her turn to checkout. She walked up to the desk and then 20 seconds later she turned around took my package and put it up on the counter with the rest of her stuff that she was mailing! I asked her what she was doing, she didn't respond so I asked her again what she was doing. I walked over to her, and she just looked at me with tears in her eyes and said " I am going to mail this package for you, it is the least I can do." She said that she was grateful for my husbands service and that it isn't easy being in the military. I was crying at that point and thanked her for her generosity, I asked her is there was anything I could do and she just smiled at me and said you just go now and take care of that baby. The sad thing is I don't even know her name! I can't adequately describe how that women made me feel, the best word to sum it up would have to be GRATITUDE. When people like that give service to me I always feel a renewed desire to be more giving, it is contagious. Now it is my turn to pay it forward :)
